Standing upon the shore of all nosotros know,

ہم سب دُنیا کے سمندر کے ایک کنارے پر کھڑے ہیں اور ہم جانتے ہیں

We linger for a instant doubtfully,

ہم شکی طور پر تھوڑی دیر کے لیے ہچکچاتے ہیں

Then amongst a vocal upon our lips,sail we,

پھر بہادری کا گیت گاتے ہوئے ہم آگے سفر شروع کرتے ہیں

Across the harbour bar--no nautical chart to show,

اور ہم بندر گاہ سے آگے نکل جاتے ہیں، بغیر نقشے کے

No low-cal to warn of rocks which prevarication below,

ہمارے پاس کوئی روشنی بھی نہیں ہے جو ہمیں سمندر میں پیش آنے والے خطرات سے آگاہ کر سکے

But permit us yet position forth courageously.

مگر ہم کو بہادری سے آگے ہی بڑھنا ہے

Although the path move tortuous and slow,

اگرچہ راستہ دشوار گُزار اور مشکل ہو سکتا ہے

Although it bristles amongst a one m fears,

اگرچہ یہ رستہ پُر خطر ہو سکتا ہے

To hopeful oculus of youth it all the same appears

لیکن پُر اُمید انسانوں کو یہ ایسے لگتا ہے

A lane past times which the rose too hawthorn grow,

جیسے ایک چھوٹی سی گلی ہو جس میں آسانیاں بھی ہیں اور مُشکلات بھی

We promise it may be,would that nosotros powerfulness know;

ہم ایسی ہی اُمید کرتے ہیں ،کاش ہم جان سکتے

Would me powerfulness hold off into the futurity years.

کاش ہم آنے والے وقت کو پہلے جان سکتے

Great duties call--the twentieth century

بیسویں صدی ہم سے بڑی اُمیدیں لگائے بیھٹی ہے

More grandly dowered than those which came before,

پہلی صدیوں کی نسبت بڑی بڑی اُمیدیں

Summons--who knows what fourth dimension may concur inwards store,

یہ صدی ہم سب سے تقاضہ کرتی ہے،کون جانتا ہے کہ اُس کو آنے والے وقتوں میں کیا ملے گا

Or what corking human activeness the distant years may see,

یا آنے والے زمانے میں ہم کیسے بڑے بڑے کارنامے سر انجام دیں گے

What conquest over hurting too misery,

کیا ہم دھکوں اور تکالیف کے اُپر فتح پا لیں گے

What heroes greater than were always yore.

یہ صدی کیسے کیسے عظیم لوگ پیدا کرے گی

But if this century is to move to a greater extent than great,

لیکن اگر اِس صدی کو ہم نے عظیم کرنا ہے

Than those before,her sons must brand her so,

پہلی صدیوں کی نسبت،تو یہ کام ہم ھی کو کرنا ہو گا

And nosotros are of her sons,and nosotros mus go,

اور ہم ہی اِس کے بیٹے ہیں،ہم کو آگے بڑھنا ہے

With eager heart to aid mould good her fate,

بڑی لگن کے ساتھ اِس دور کو بدلنے کے لیے

And come across that she shall make such proud estate,

اور دیکھنا ہم کیسی کامیابی حاصل کرتے ہیں

And shall on futurity centuries bestow.

اور آنے والا وقت ہم کو کیسی کامیابیوں سے نوازے گا

A legacy of benefits--may we

ہمیں واراثت میں کُچھ فوائد ملے

In futurity years move establish amongst those who try,

ہو سکتا ہے کہ آنے والے وقتوں میں ہم اُن کے ساتھ کھڑے ہوں جو کوشش کرتے ہیں

To labour for the skilful until they die,

کُچھ اچھا کرنے کی مرتے دم تک

And enquire no other enquiry than to know

اور اِس سوال کے سوا ہم کوئی اور سوال نہ کریں یہ جاننے کے لیے

That they convey helped the drive to victory,

کہ اُن کا ہماری کامیابی میں کتنا ہاتھ ہے

That amongst their assist the flag is raised on high.

کہ اُن کی مدد سے ہی ہم کامیابی کا جھنڈا اُونچا لہرا رہے ہیں

Sometimes inwards distant years when nosotros are grown

جب آنے والے وقتوں میں ہم بوڑھے ہو جائیں گے

Gray--haired too old,whatever move our lot,

تو ہم جس مقام پر بھی ہوں گے

We shall wishing to come across in i lawsuit again the spot,

تو ہم اُس جگہ کو دوبارہ دیکھنے کی تمنا کریں گے

Which,whatsoever nosotros convey been or done,

ہم جو کُچھ بھی کرتے رہے ہیں یا کیا ہے

Or to what distant lands nosotros may have gone,

کِن کِن علاقوں کو ھم نے فتح کیا ہے

Through all the years volition never convey been forgot.

اِس تمام سفر میں ہم یہ سب بھولے نہیں ہیں
