                        The Huntsman

Kagwa hunted the lions,

کاگوا شیروں کا شکاری تھا

Through bush in addition to wood went his spear.

وہ جنگل میں شیروں کا شکار کیا کرتا تھا

One hateful solar daytime he establish the skull of a man

ایک دِن اُسے ایک آدمی کی کھوپڑی مِلی

And said to it, "How did you lot come upward here"?

کاگوا نے اُس سے کہا تُم کھوپڑی کیسے بنی

The skull opened its oral cavity in addition to said

کھوپڑی نے کہا

'Talking brought me here.'

غلط بیانی نے مُجھے اِس حالت تک پُہنچا دیا

Kagwa hurried home;

وہ جلدی جلدی گھر گیا

Went to the manful mortal monarch 's chair in addition to spoke:

بادشاہ کے محل میں گیا اور بولا

In the wood I establish a talking skull'

مُجھے جنگل میں ایک باتیں کرتی ایک کھوپڑی مِلی ہے

The manful mortal monarch was silent.The he said slowly

بادشاہ چُپ ہو گیا اور پھر آہستگی سے گویا ہوا

'Never since I was born of my mother

کہ جب سے میں پیدا ہوا ہوں

Have I seen or heard of a skull which spoke.

نہ میں نے دیکھا ہے اور نہ ہی باتیں کرتی ہوئی کھوپڑی کے بارے میں سُنا ہے

The king called out his guards,

بادشاہ نے اپنے مُحافظوں کو بُلایا

'Two of you lot become amongst him'

تُم میں سے دو اِس کے ساتھ جاو

And abide by the talking skull;

اور باتیں کرتی ہوئی کھوپڑی کو تلاش کرو

But if his tale is a lie,

لیکن اگر یہ بات جھوٹی ہوئی 

And the skull speaks no word,

اور کھوپڑی نے باتیں نہ کیں

This kagwa himself must die.

تو کاگوا کو جان سے ہاتھ دھونا پڑیں گے

They rode into the forest,

وہ سوار ہو کر جنگل میں گے

For days in addition to nights they establish nothing,

کئی دِن اور راتوں تک کُچھ نہ مِلا

At final they saw the skull;Kagwa

آخر کار اُن کو کھوپڑی نظر آ گئی

Said to it: How did you lot come upward here?

شکاری نے کہا تُم یہاں کیسے آئی

The skull said nothing. Kagwa implored,

کھوپڑی نہ بولی،شکاری نے منت سماجت کی

But the skull said nothing.

لیکن کھوپڑی چُپ کی چُپ

The guard said' Kneel down,

محافظوں نے کہا جُھک جاو

They killed him amongst sword in addition to spear,

اُنہوں نے نیزے اور تلوار سے شکاری کو مار دیا

Then the skull opened its mouth

پھر کھوپڑی گویا ہوئی

'Huntsman,how did you lot come upward here?

شکاری تُم یہاں کیسے آئے؟

And the dead human being answered:

اور مرے ہوئے کاگوا نے جوب دیا

'Talking brought me here.'

باتوں نے مُجھے اِس انجام کو پُہنچایا
