Lights Out

I convey come upwards to the borders of sleep,

میں نیند کے کناروں کو چھو رہا ہوں

The unfathomable deep

یہ ایک ناقابلِ پیمائش گہرا

Forest where all must lose

جنگل ہے جہاں سب کو ضرور کھونا ہے

Their way,however straight

اپنے راستے کو تاہم وہ سیدھا ہو

Or winding,soon or late;

یا بل کھاتا ہوا،جلدی یا تھوڑی دیر بعد

They cannot choose.

اِس میں اُن کے لیے کوئی انتخاب نہیں ہے

Many a route track

کئی ایک رستے

That,since the dawn showtime s' crack,

جو سورج کی پہلی کِرن کے ساتھ

Up to the forest brink,

اُس جنگل کے کنارے کی طرف جاتے ہیں 

Deceived the travelers,

وہی رستے مسا فروں کو دھوکا دیتے ہیں

Suddenly forthwith blurs,

اچانک ماند پڑ جاتے ہیں

And inwards they sink.

اور اِن پر چلنے والے اِنہی میں ڈوب جاتے ہیں

Here love ends,

نیند کے سامنے مُحبت بے بس ہو جاتی ہے

Despair,ambition ends;

مایوسی،آرزو ختم ہو جاتی ہے

All pleasures in addition to all trouble,

تمام خوشیاں،تمام غم

Although close sugariness or bitter,

اپنی مٹھاس،اپنی تلخی کھو دیتے ہیں

Here ends inwards slumber that is sweeter

نیند کی مٹھاس کے سامنے سب ختم ہو جاتا ہے

Than tasks close noble.

نیند انسانوں کی اولین ترجیح بن جاتی ہے

There is non whatever book

کوئی ایسی کتاب نہیں ہے

Or human face upwards of dearest look

یا کوئی محبوب چہرہ

That I would non plough from now

کہ جِس سے پیچھے نہ ھٹا جاسکتا ہو

To instruct into the unknown

نیند کی انجانی وادی میں جانے کے لیے

I must enter,and leave,alone,

مُجھے ضرور جانا ہے اور اکیلے

I know non how.

پتہ نہیں کیسے

The tall woods towers;

نیند ایسے آتی ہے جیسے ہم جنگل میں اونچے درختوں کے نیچے کھڑے ہوں

Its cloudy leaf lowers

اور اُن درختوں کے برف سے ڈھکے پتے نیچے آ رہے ہوں

Ahead,shelf inwards a higher house shelf;

ہمارے آگے تہہ در تہہ

Its quiet I take away heed in addition to obey

میں اِس خاموشی کو سُنتا ہوں اور مخمور ہو جاتا ہوں

That I may lose my way

اور میرا خود پر اختیار ماند پڑتا جا رہا ہے

And myself.

اور میں نیند میں چلا جاتا ہوں
