             A Poison Tree

I was angry amongst my friend:

میں اپنے دوست کے ساتھ ناراض تھا

I told my wrath,my wrath did end.

میں نے اُسے اپنی ناراضگی کا اظہار کر دیا اور میرا غُصہ ختم ہو گیا

I was angry amongst my foe;

ایک دفعہ میں اپنے دوست نما دُشمن سے ناراض ہو گیا

I told it not,my wrath did grow.

میں نے اُس کو نہیں بتایا اور میرا غُصہ بڑھتا گیا

And I watered it inwards fears,

اُس کینے اور نفرت کے بیج کو میں نے خوف کا پانی دیا

Night in addition to morning time amongst my tears:

صُبح شام آنسوں بہائے

And I sunned it amongst smiles

اُس پودے کو میں نے مُسکراہٹوں کی دھوپ دی

And amongst soft deceitful wiles.

اور پُر فریب چالیں چلی

And it grew both twenty-four hr menses in addition to night,

اِس نفرت کے پودے کی دِن رات افزائش ہونے لگ پڑی

Till it bore an apple tree bright:

پھر اِس درخت ہر سیب لگ گیا

And my foe beheld it shine,

پیرا دوست اِس کی چمک سے بہت مُتاثر ہوا

And he knew that it was mine.

وہ جانتا تھا کہ یہ سیب میرے دوست کا تھا

And into my garden stole

وہ چُپکے سے میرے باغ میں داخل ہوا

When the nighttime had veiled the pole:

جب رات پورے عروج پر تھی

In the morning time glad I see

صُبح میں دیکھ کر بُہت خوش ہوا

My foe outstretch'd beneath the tree.

میرا دوست میری نفرت ، کینہ اور بُغض کی بھینٹ چڑھ گیا
